The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 2 seeded TCU at the Conference USA Tournament in New Orleans. The Cardinals will play the loser of the Tulane/Houston match Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.

"TCU played the best doubles match we have faced all year," said first year head coach Greg Davis. We may have been a bit overwhelmed going into the singles but we put up a good battle."

The sixth-seeded Cardinals were unable to win the doubles point, which has been a linchpin of their success in the tournament in the first two matches. The No. 59-ranked pair of Paty Aburto and Rose Perez upended Marie Louise Frolich-Hansen and Kelly Taylor 8-2 at No. 1. Paige Eber and Jasmin Singh fell at No. 3 to give the Horned Frogs the point.

"The shutout score is a bit misleading as we stopped playing as soon as TCU clinched, for time restraints. We did not finish the other three matches," said Davis.

The Cardinals then had to try to battle back from the deficit. Eber lost to Gloriann Lopez 6-1, 6-3 and Karla Mancinas handed Melisa San Martin a loss by the same score. Perez's 6-3, 6-1 win over Taylor clinched the match for TCU.

"TCU is a very deep team and is well coached," said Davis.

The Cardinals will play the loser of the Tulane/Houston match Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.

"We are very upbeat because we came here and played two great matches and played a good team very tough," said Davis. "Playing for third in just one year after we were 11th last year, is tremendous. We are very happy and playing well."
