LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team recorded its 10th shutout of the season when the cardinals swept Bradley 7-0 late Saturday night at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals improve to 13-4 on the season.
The Cardinals won the doubles point as the team of Cody Conley and Jakob Gustafsson defeated Marko Marevic and Radek Guzik 8-1 at the top seed. At No. 2, Harry Walsh and Matt Mayer teamed up to blank Paul Craigen and Marijan Panzic 8-0, while Octavian Nicodim and Sebastian Aspillaga beat Scott Roebuck and Mark Muskievicz 8-2 at No. 3.
In singles action, Conley defeated Marevic 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 to lead the Cards' sweep. Walsh outlasted Muskievicz 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 at No. 4 to secure the sweep. Nicodim, Jhonny Berrido, Aspillaga and Gustafsson all won in straight sets for the Cards, with Gustafsson not dropping a game.
"It was our first match under the lights all season and it's always unpredictable how players will react to it," said U of L coach Rex Ecarma. "I am ecstatic to post our 13th win of the season and 10th shutout. Even with our brutally tough schedule, we have eclipsed last year's win total. The next four opponents beat us the last time we played so we are excited for the challenge."
