LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Chad Norton has been named as assistant coach for the University of Louisville volleyball program.
He will assist with recruiting, scheduling, facility and game management as well as assisting at practice.
"In the past, Chad has been very generous of his time and talents for our program. We are very happy to welcome him aboard on a fulltime basis." said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "He knows our players, our system and my coaching style. It will be the smoothest transition possible."
Norton, a 1999 graduate of U of L, served as a student assistant for Cardinal volleyball from 1996-99. In 1997, he had additional duties as a manager for the Cardinal men's basketball team.
He served as assistant coach at Conference USA rival school Charlotte from 1999-2000 where he oversaw recruiting, scouting, game day management, scheduling and assisted at practice.
He served as volunteer assistant in 2000-01 while he began work on a masters of teaching and working in the private sector.
He has coached at the club level for KJVA, KIVA, Derby City and Charlotte Juniors and served as U of L's camp director in 1997.
The Baltimore, Md., native graduated from Kentucky's Covington Catholic high school. The Norton family has long played support roles for Cardinal Athletics. His brother, Brent, was a trainer for men's basketball. His brother, Scott, was a manager for women's soccer and his sister, Bridget, is the volleyball manager.
Chad graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports administration. He replaces assistant coach Rick Nold, who left U of L to become the head coach at Jacksonville State in Alabama.
