Men's Tennis Loses to Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to Michigan State 4-3 on Sunday at Michigan State.
The Cardinals won the doubles point as the team of Cody Conley and Octavian Nicodim defeated Jimmy McGuire and Eric Simonton 8-4 at No. 1 and Matt Mayer and Brent McCombe beat Adam Hourani and Goran Topalo 9-7 at No. 3. Andrew Formanczyk and Chris Mitchell had the Spartans' only double win with their 8-6 decision over Adam Maskill and Alex Sivertsen at the two-spot.
In singles, Conley defeated Mitchell 6-1, 6-2 at the top seed and Nicodim won over Simonton 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. MSU's Fromanczyk defeated Paulo Carvalho 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2, Goran Topalo defeated Sivertsen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3, Maguire won a 7-5, 6-0 decision over Mayer at the five spot and Cameron Marshall defeated McCombe 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
Louisville (3-5) will travel to Seattle, Wash. to take on Washington, Northwestern and Indiana State Feb. 16-17.
