Men's Tennis Competes in Southern Collegiate Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - University of Louisville tennis players Cody Conley and Alex Sivertsen each won the consolation draws in their respective divisions at the 2001 Southern Collegiate Championships. The tournament, hosted by the University of Georgia, featured four flights of singles play and three doubles flights with over 200 players from 40 schools.
Conley lost to Georgia's Adam Seni 7-5, 6-2 in the first round of Division I singles and moved to the consolation bracket, where won five matches over players from South Carolina, Wake Forest, Lander, UT-Chattanooga before his final match, a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(8) decision over Michael Staniak on Monday.
Sivertsen lost in the opening round of Division III SIngles, then defeated Tyler Faulkner of Georgia Perimeter and Vanderbilt's Josh Tarkoff 5-7, 6-4, 10-7. He then won then semifinal match when South Alabama's Evan Fowler defaulted due to injury. The championship match resulted in a default by
Brent McCombe lost to fifth-seeded Peter Richman from LSU 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the Division II singles bracket. He then fell to Aleksander Antonijevic of Stetson 6-3, 6-2 in the consolation bracket.
The doubles team of fell to second-seeded Levant and Eleazar Magellan of Florida 8-4 in the first round of division I doubles.
