
Louisville Athletes Earn C-USA Postgraduate Scholarships

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville seniors Goran Carlos Yabar and Katherine Mowat were named recipients of Conference USA's Postgraduate Scholarship Awards today. Mowat was also named the Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year for women's golf.
The league annually presents six $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarships to graduates as selected by the Faculty Athletics Representatives at their annual spring meetings.
The C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year awards are presented to the top student-athletes in each sport. The award is based on academic achievement, athletic achievement and service.
Mowat, a physical education major with a 3.8 GPA, was the 2000 Conference USA champion. She was second on the team this season with an average of 77.72. She finished the season with two top ten finishes and two top twenty finishes. Mowat was also a two-time first team All-C-USA honoree and named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. She plans to pursue a master's degree in the same field.
Yabar, biology major with a 3.7 GPA, served as team captain this season. He was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team and to the Commissioner's Honor Roll during his undergraduate career. Yabar also received the Outstanding Volunteer Award from the CardsCare program. He plans on attending medical school and specialize in Orthopedic Surgery.
