
Women's Golf In Third At C-USA Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The University of Louisville fell to third place after shooting a 312 in the second round of the Conference USA Championships at Inverness Country Club.
South Florida maintained its lead shooting a 303 for a 602 two-day total to lead the team standings. Memphis, which shot the low round of the day with a 296, moved to second, six strokes behind the Bulls at 608. Louisville (617) slid to third followed by Southern Miss (626) in fourth.
"We made the turn in good shape," said Kelly Meyers, U of L head coach. "But we didn't get it done on the backside."
In the individual competition, Kelly Martin ,(74, 73 = 147) of South Florida has a one-stroke lead going into the final round of play over Ofelia Lopez (74, 74 = 148) of Southern Miss. Mowat, yesterday's co-leader, is in sole possession of third.
"We are very excited that Katherine is just two strokes off the lead and is in a position to win. She is hoping to go low and defend her title from last year," said Meyers.
Morgan Hapney shot a 77 and placed 12th after being one-under at 11. Fellow freshman Alison Wright matched the 77 for 17th place. Cindiy Pasechnik and Jessica Kell carded 82 and 84 for the second round respectively but are tied at 20th place.
Final round of competition will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning at the par 72, 5979 yard course.
