HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Wet and blustery conditions for the cancellation of the final round of the Birkdale Collegiate Classic. As a result, the U of L men's golf team finished the competition in fifth place after the tournament was shortened to 36 holes.

Junior Grant Sturgeon finished the tournament tied for fifth place after shooting back-to-back 73s on Monday. Sturgeon's total of 146 made him the only Cardinal to post a top 20 showing.

Male High School product Chris Campbell shook off the effects of a senior year slump to fire 75-74 = 129 (+5) to join a pair of competitors in 22nd place.

Junior Geoff Nuwash opened his spring campaign with a two-round score of 151 (+7) after firing rounds of 76 and 74 on the 7,013-yard course.
