LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville doubles team of Cody Conley and Joachim Lien is ranked No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Rankings.
Conley, a junior from Floyds Knobs, Ind. and Lien, a junior from Oslo Norway teamed to compile a 6-4 record in the fall. They reached the finals of the 2001 ITA Omni Hotels Midwest Championships, defeating three teams ranked in the top 50 before falling to the Illinois' 14th ranked team in the championship match. Conley and Lien were one of 16 doubles teams to compete in the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, where they went 1-2.
"The ranking of Cody and Joachim at No. 18 is the best in U of L history," said Louisville head coach Rex Ecarma. "This team definitely has potential to play in the NCAA's and the national championship in May. They exemplify the high energy, dynamic types of players we have here at Louisville."
The U of L men's tennis team will open up the spring season on January 10, when the Cardinals host Illinois State and Northern Iowa at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
