LOUISVILLE, Ky. - There is no place like home for the Louisville Cardinal Volleyball team which upended Marquette in three games in their first home Conference USA match.
The Cardinals, who have had just one other home match so far this season in 13 matches, returned from the road to beat Marquette 15-6, 15-11, 15-8.
After losing six straight, the Cardinals have won two of their last three matches to even their conference mark at 2-2 and move to 4-9 overall. Marquette suffered its first conference loss to post a 2-1 league mark and 9-5 overall.
"We may be off to a rough start but every conference win is like gold," said Leonid Yelin, head coach. "The conference is wide open and we want to be right there come season's end."
Louisville was led by Kelly McClain's 15 kills and 11 digs. Lesley Drury was the other Cardinal in double digit kills with 10 adding three service aces.
Marquette only challenged the Cards in the second game when they went up 11-6 only to allow Louisville nine straight points to win the game. The Eagles were led by Danielle Hagen's nine kills and 10 digs.
