Memphis Tops Baseball Cards 7-4

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball team lost to Memphis 7-4 on Saturday at old Cardinal Stadium.
The Tigers started the scoring in the first inning when Gabe Interiano drew a walk to reach first and scored on Wes Crane's double to make the score 1-0.
U of L tied the game in the bottom of the first when Mike Hook reach on an error, moved to second on Scott Kohler's walk, stole third and scored when Josh Rhodes grounded out to third.
Memphis broke the tie in the third when Nathan Sams singled to reached first, moved to second on Tyler Shelton's walk, advanced to third on Tony Lomeli's sacrifice bunt and scored on Daniel Uggla's ground out to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Memphis scored two in the fifth when Henry Castor led off the inning with a single and was brought home on Sams' two-run homer to make the score 4-1.
The Tigers' game-winning hit came in the sixth when Castor's home run scored Crane who had reached on a single to give Memphis a 6-1 lead.
Louisville put up a run in the bottom of the sixth when Kohler singled to lead off the inning, moved to third on Sapp's double and scored on Paul Brown's base hit to make the score 6-2.
Memphis added another insurance run in the seventh on Uggla's solo home run.
The Cards scored two in the bottom of the ninth when Morgan Bojorquez singled to lead off the inning and was brought in on Kyle Rajsich's two-run homer to pull Louisville within three, but could not score again in the 7-4 loss.
Memphis starter Jason Wiedmeyer (4-3) got the win, throwing eight innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits and striking out six.
Louisville starter Todd Raithel (2-6) took the loss after pitching six innings and allowing six runs on seven hits.
U of L (11-24-1, 5-8-1) and Memphis (13-23, 6-6) will meet in the rubber game of the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at old Cardinal Stadium.
