LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville put up five runs in the third on its way to an 8-3 win over UAB in Conference USA baseball action Friday night at Cardinal Stadium.

The Cards (15-28-1, 8-10-1) plated a single run in the first when leftfielder Troy Hilpp singled in Paul Brown who had walked.
Louisville had back-to-back two-run singles from Rob Partin and Matt Jarboe in the third to extend the lead to 6-0. Jarboe and Hilpp each had three hits on the evening.
UAB (18-27, 4-13) scored in the fifth when first baseman Jim Hanks, who had walked to open the inning and advanced to third, came home on a wild pitch to make the score 6-1.
U of L went up 8-1 with two more runs in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Mike Hook and an RBI single by catcher Curtis Sapp. Single runs in the eighth and ninth by the Blazers decided the final margin.
Lee Jolly (2-3) was tagged with the loss, as he was touched for six runs, five of which were earned, on eight hits, four walks and four strikeouts.
Three Cardinal batters extended hitting streaks on the night. Brown has now hit safely in a team high 11 straight, Sapp in nine and Jarboe eight consecutive games.
