Andy Stoots is in his fifth season with the Louisville women's soccer program.  His responsibilities include on field coaching and recruiting. He has an extensive coaching resume spanning the course of 18 years. Â
AT LOUISVILLE
In 2020-21, Emina Ekic was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ACC, while Gabby Kouzelos was named Third Team All-ACC. It marked the first time that a Louisville player has earned ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Ekic was selected by Racing Louisville FC with the fifth pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft, becoming the first UofL player to be selected in the NWSL Draft.
In 2019, Stoots helped the Cardinals finish fourth in the ACC with a record of 5-3-2, and made their sixth NCAA Championship appearance with an overall record of 13-5-2. The Cardinals finished the season ranked No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
The Cardinals had three players earn All-ACC honors in 2019.  Emina Ekic was named a first team All-ACC selection, Gabby Kouzelos was named a second team All-ACC selection and Brooklynn Rivers earned third team All-ACC honors. Ekic was named a second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches association for the second straight year.Â

In the fall of 2018 the Cardinals finished tied for fifth in the ACC with a record of 6-4, and made their fifth NCAA Championship appearance with an overall record of 12-7-0.  Emina Ekic was named a second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches association. She became the seventh All-American in school history and the first Cardinal to earn All-American honors since Christine Exeter was named a third team All-American in 2011. Ekic is also the first Louisville player to earn second team honors, with the previous six selections earning third and fourth team honors.Â
During the 2017 season,  the Cardinals recorded another winning season while then-freshman Emina Ekic garnered numerous awards. Ekic was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, becoming the first Cardinal to earn a major ACC award. Ekic also earned all-region, All-ACC and All-ACC academic awards. The Louisville native led the Cardinals in scoring seven goals and three assists.  Â
PRIOR TO LOUISVILLE
Stoots has an extensive coaching resume spanning the course of 13 years.  Stoots served as an assistant at Minnesota for two years, working with the goalkeepers. While at Minnesota he helped guide the Gophers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2016, the Gophers won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles for the first time in school history, finishing with an overall record of 16-3-4. Goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs broke the program record in shutouts, tallying 33 during her time in maroon and gold. Hobbs logged over 300 saves in her collegiate career.
Prior to joining the Minnesota staff, Stoots was an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. for four seasons. During his time with the Bulldogs, Stoots helped the team excel to new heights both on and off the field as they earned NSCAA Top 10 Regional rankings, received votes in the NSCAA Top 25 and earned both regular season and conference tournament titles. While coaching with an emphasis on goalkeeping, Stoots helped develop goalkeepers Alyssa Whitehead, Melissa Montgomery, Katie Peters and Anna Maddox who all earned conference honors. Peters trained with the US U-20 Women's National Team in 2013.Â
Prior to his tenure at Samford, Stoots also served as an assistant coach at Belmont University, East Tennessee State and Troy University. At East Tennessee State, Stoots spent three years as an assistant coach and three more as associate head coach. With the Lady Bucs, he focused on goalkeeper development and saw a pair of student-athletes combine for 15 program records and allowed only 28 goals in 2007.Â
Stoots began his coaching career at his alma mater immediately following his graduation from Milligan College. He served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs in 2002. As a four-year letter winner, Stoots served as a captain for his final two seasons. He helped lead his team to a new school standard with 15 victories in 2001. To this day, Stoots still holds the school record for career shutouts, career goals-against average and wins.Â
He graduated from Milligan College with a bachelor's degree in human performance and exercise science in 2002. He holds a USSF National D License and NSCAA Premier Diploma. From 2007-12, Stoots was on the Region III staff and was a part of the Tennessee ODP staff from 2001-05.
