PRONUNCIATION
2024: As one of the best blockers in the country, Cara finished ranked seventh nationally in blocks per set with 1.50. Cresse took home awards as an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, and AVCA All-South Region Team member, and an All-ACC Second Team member. She was also named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14. Cara played in 118 sets and recorded 6+ blocks in 18 different matches. She hit .323 on the season with a team leading 177.0 blocks, 192 kills, and three service aces. Cara recorded 6+ blocks in 18 different matches, including 10 at Miami, 11 at SMU and 14 against Northern Iowa in the NCAA Tournament. Another great year academically for Cara landed her once again on the Academic All-ACC team. Cresse and outside hitter Chloe Chicoine were named by USA Volleyball as two of the 18 athletes to the 2025 Women’s U23 National Team for the NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup, July 25-August 2 in Leon, Mexico.
2023: Cara was named AVCA All-East Region, All-Pitt Regional, Second Team All-ACC and was named both an Offensive ACC Player of the Week and a Defensive Player of the Week. She played in 111 sets for the Cardinals and hit .440 on the year, ranking third in kills with 264. She had 17 aces and 389 digs and was second on the team in blocking with 111 to average one per set. She was the third leading scorer with 349 points. Her hitting percentage ranked her third in the nation at .440. She had ten matches in double digit kills, led by 12 against Missouri, Dayton, Boston College and Creighton. She had a season-high 13 kills versus Wright State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Her highest block total came against both Dayton and North Carolina when she tallied eight. A strong server, she had two aces against Washington State, Virginia with her season-high three against South Dakota, and Penn State. An outstanding student, she was named to the Academic All-ACC team and was a CSC Academic All-District selection.
2022: Cara had a strong start to the season, recording four games with five or more blocks through the first eight games of the season. She played 51 sets and notched 58 kills hitting .287 and 57 blocks, including six solo blocks to record 91.5 points for the Cards. She had a career-high 8 kills in the five-set match against Kentucky and recorded 10 blocks against Stanford. Cara also had a career-high two aces against Lipscomb. Cara put pressure on defenses hitting over .500 five different times: (.600 vs. Missouri 3-0-5), (.500 vs. Miami 1-0-2), (.857 vs. Syracuse 6-0-7), (.600 vs. NC State 3-0-5), (.600 vs. Samford 4-1-5). She played three sets in the NCAA Tournament, hitting .600 against Samford (4-1-5). She also had one dig against Oregon.
2021: Cara redshirted in 2021. An excellent student, she made the ACC Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Prep: Cara Cresse, a 6-5 middle blocker from Ft. Wayne, Ind., played for Blackhawk Christian High School for Anne Boyer and Empowered Sports Club for William Robbins. At Blackhawk, she was Indiana homeschool Second All-State Team and the MVC Second team All-Tournament in 2018. She was the BCS Blocker of the Year and was named to the first team IHSAVCA 1-A All-State in 2019. An IHSVCA All-District team member, she was also named second team All-Northeast Indiana. She was on the IHSVCA Academic All-State team in 2020 and was name Top Offensive Player in 2019 and 2020. She was a Top Ace in 2020 and the Top Blocker in 2020. She made the JVA Watchlist in 2018, 2019, 2020 and a HUDL Top Middle Class of 2021.
