Junior: Martin set a school record in the 1000-free at the U.S. Short Course Nationals with a time of 9:09.18. He also swam in the NCAA Championships. During the BIG EAST meet, Martin competed in the 500-free and the 200-fly. He swam to a fourth-place finish and made the national B-cut in the 500-free with a time of 4:23.01. In the 200-fly, he earned a third-place finish with a B-cut time of 1:47.45. Martin was a two-time All-BIG EAST performer.
Sophomore: Riley was named All-BIG EAST in two events. At the Big EAST Championship, in the 500- freestyle, he finished in second place with a time of 4:24.79. In the 1650-yard freestyle he finished in 15:17.41 and in first place. He finished in sixth place in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:47.89. All of Riley's times made the national B cut. He was invited to USA Swimming's Open Water Select Camp in Long Beach, Calif. over the summer.
Freshman: As a freshman, Riley and qualified for BIG EAST. He won the B-final in the 500-free with a time of 4:28.45. He also made the B-final in the 200-fly and finished with a time of 1:50.16. He also reset all his lifetime bests this year.
Prep: Riley comes to U of L from Kentucky's Paris High School where he swam for Ashley Norris and for Highbridge Aquatics for Coach Chris Fugmann. He made the finals at Junior Nationals in the summer of 2007 in the 200-fly. He earned all-conference, all-region and a Regional Champions in several events. He was the A-State champion in eight events (50-fly, 100-fly, 200-fly, 200-free, 500-free, 400-free, 400-IM and 400-free relay. He made All- American Consideration time in the 500-freestyle. He set his then-lifetime best times at the 2006 Southern Zone Championships and the 2007 Junior National Championship. He won the Harvard Book Award, National Merit Finalist and Valedictorian of his class.
Personal: He is the son of Christopher and Heather Martin. He was born November 9, 1989. He plans on majoring in philosophy.
