He swam sprint free and fly events for the Hoosiers and was a finalist in the 100-fly at the Big Ten Championships in 2004. This Ohio product placed third in the 100-butterfly and 10th in the 100-freestyle at the 2002 Ohio High School Athletic Association Championships. As a sophomore in 2001, he placed sixth in both the 100-butterfly and the 100-freestyle at the OHSAA championships. He is a three-time YMCA National Finalist.
