In 2005-06, Heather continued to be a major point scorer for the Cardinals. She won the 100-breast with an NCAA B qualifying time at the BIG EAST Championship. At that meet, she helped set a school record in the both the 200- and 400-MR. She also made the podium with a third place in the 200-breast. As a sophomore, Heather helped set the school 400-medley relay record at that meet. She finished second in both the 100- and 200-breast at the 2005 Conference USA Championship. She made NCAA consideration times in the 200-breast. She holds school records in the 100- and 200-breast, and was a member of the school record 400-medley relay team. She was a consistent point scorer during the dual meet season. As a freshman, she made an immediate impact for the aquatic Cardinals as its leading scorer. She won the Conference USA Championship in the 200-breast, where she was also an NCAA provisional qualifier. She set the then-school record for the 200-breaststroke, the 200-IM, and the 100-breaststroke. She was a member of the school record-setting 400-medley relay team as well. In the dual meet season, she set a pool record in the 200-IM at Xavier. She had multiple wins at Evansville, Eastern Illinois, ECU and Xavier. Prior to her career as a Cardinal, she she swam at the 2000 Olympic Swimming Trials in the 100- and 200-breaststroke at the age of 15.
