George Carpenter was hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the University of Louisville in 2016.
Before joining Coach Petrino’s staff, Carpenter was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at during the 2015 season, helping lead the Thundering Herd to a 10-3 mark.
Prior to gaining full-time status, Carpenter was a graduate assistant for strength and conditioning at Marshall from 2013-2015. During his stint as a graduate assistant at Marshall, he worked with the football program, while also assisting with men’s soccer, baseball, and softball programs.
Carpenter earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Marshall in 2012, while receiving his master's degree in special education in 2014.
As a player, Carpenter was a four-year letterwinner at Marshall. As a linebackers, Carpenter finished his senior year as one of Marshall’s top defensive players accumulating 92 tackles.
Carpenter holds certifications from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), USA Weightlifting, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
