Bio
Senior: Pinto continued to solidify himself as one of the top divers in Cardinal history throughout his senior season. At the ACC Championships, he placed ninth on the 3-meter (356.55), 10th on the 1-meter (310.75), and 26th on the platform (229.70). Pinto won the 3-meter board and was the runner-up on the 1-meter against Notre Dame while taking second and third, respectively, in those events versus Kentucky.
Junior: In his third season with the Cardinals, Pinto continued to lead the Cardinal divers with several strong performances. At the ACC Championships, he finished fifth on the 1-meter (323.75), 13th on the 3-meter (297.35), and 14th on the 10-meter (247.45). Pinto dove to third on the 3-meter (361.05) at the NC State Wolfpack Invitational where he also took sixth on the 1-meter (284.10) and seventh on the 10-meter (272.25). He also swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter at dual meets against Northwestern, Tennessee, and Notre Dame. Pinto’s score of 393.75 on the 3-meter against the Fighting Irish was good enough for a new school record. He was also named to the CSCAA All-American team for the 1-meter and platform. Pinto was named the ACC Diver of the Week on Nov. 5 and Jan. 14.
Sophomore: As a sophomore, Pinto continued to contribute strong performances for the Cardinals’ diving squad. He qualified for the NCAA Zone C Championships, where he took 15th overall on the 1-meter with a combined mark of 604.30. At ACCs, he recorded a sixth place finish on the 3-meter with a score of 322.10, while also adding a 10th place on 1-meter (284.15) and 24th place on platform. Pinto also had a solid showing at the IU Invitational, where he finished in the top-eight in each of the three diving events, highlighted by a third place finish on the 1-meter with a score of 310.95. He also had a successful dual meet season with five top-three finishes throughout the year, including win on the 3-meter against Virginia, scoring a 384.30 to set a new school record.
Freshman: Pinto proved to be one of the Cardinals’ top divers throughout his freshman campaign. At the ACC Championships, he finished 18th in the 1-meter with a score of 280.80, 20th on the 3-meter with a 299.35 and 23rd on platform with a 245.90. Pinto represented Peru at the South American Games, taking fifth on the 3-meter (339.35) and earning a bronze medal in the 3-meter synchronized diving event. At the USA Diving Senior Nationals, Pinto placed 16th overall on the 1-meter (246.55) and 17th overall on the 3-meter. Pinto also put together solid performances at the Miami Invitational, placing as high as sixth on the 3-meter with a 309.65. Against Notre Dame, he won the 3-meter with a score of 348.98, while also winning the 1-meter against Indiana with a 324.68.
Prep: Pinto joins the diving contingent for the Cardinals from Lima, Peru. He has seen success on the international stage, earning a bronze medal at the South American Aquatic Championships, as well as two bronze medals at the Senior South American Championships.
Personal: Son of Romina and Bratsson Pinto. Born February 18th, 1999.
