Freshman: Tuning added valuable sprint freestyle depth to the Cardinals’ lineup during his debut season. He competed in all three dual meets during the shortened season, highlighted by a fifth-place showing in the 50 freestyle against Cincinnati. At the Louisville Invitational, he raced to fifth in the 50 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle.

Prep: Tuning arrives in The Ville from Cary, North Carolina, where he was a U.S Open qualifier when competing for New Wave Swim Team. In 2019, he finaled in three events at the NCSA Championships and registered a bronze-medal performance in the 50m butterfly at the TYR Summer Senior Championships. Over the past two seasons, he has had six final appearances at the North Carolina Senior Championships and placed third in the 50 freestyle at that meet in 2018. Tuning, who has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors, holds best times of 49.01 in the 100 butterfly, 20.35 in the 50 freestyle, and 45.59 in the 100 freestyle.
