Bio
Sophomore: Schultz continued to be a strong contributor for the Cardinals in the backstroke and freestyle events throughout the dual meet season. She was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke (57.29) against Xavier and registered a third-place finishes in the 200 backstroke versus Tennessee and Notre Dame. Schultz also raced to third in the 200 backstroke (2:00.58) in the tri-meet against Indiana and Texas.
Freshman: Schultz added valuable depth to the Cards’ freestyle and backstroke squads in her debut season. At the IU Invitational, she posted personal best times in each of her individual events, finishing fourth in the 100 free (49.33), sixth in the 200 free (1:47.26) and 15th in the 200 back (1:58.94). At the Louisville First Chance Invitational, she took first in the 50 free (23.35), first in the 200 free (1:47.63) and second in the 100 free (49.96). Schultz scored in each of the Cards’ dual meets this season, including a second place finish in the 100 back in the victory over Xavier.
Prep: Schultz comes to Louisville from Dexter, Mich., where she is a five-time state champion for Dexter High School under coach Corey Bergen. Most recently, she won the 200 free at the MHSAA D3 State Championships, capturing her third straight title in the event. She also won gold in the 100 free as a sophomore and a junior. Additionally, she earned All-American honors in the 100 and 200 free all four years, Athlete of the Year honors in 2016 and 2018, MISCA Athlete of the Year in 2016 and held 12 varsity records. Schultz also competed for Dexter Community Aquatics Club and coach Dave Gendernalik, where she was a Junior National Championships qualifier in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 back and 200 back. She holds best times of 23.59 in the 50 free, 50.01 in the 100 free, 1:47.89 in the 200 free, 54.71 in the 100 back and 1:58.66 in the 200 back.
