No. 15 Louisville Welcomes Boston College for ACC Showdown Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 15 Louisville men's soccer team returns to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Friday, Sept. 18, welcoming Boston College for its second ACC match of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on ACCNX.
The Cardinals enter the matchup unbeaten at 6-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in ACC play following a 3-2 victory over California on Sept. 13. Boston College enters at 5-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
Louisville is ranked No. 15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 10 by TopDrawerSoccer. The Cardinals have outshot every opponent this season, holding a 111-61 advantage in shots and a 49-20 edge in shots on goal. Louisville has also generated 43 corner kicks compared to 25 for its opponents.
The Cardinals opened ACC play with a 3-2 win over California last Sunday. Andrés Escudero Martín opened the scoring in the 28th minute before freshman Emil Thor provided the decisive offensive spark in the second half, scoring twice in a 25-second span in the 68th minute. Cooper Olson assisted on both of Thor's goals, while goalkeeper Nathaniel Abraham made a career-high four saves in the victory.
Louisville has received goals from seven different players this season. Zizza leads the team with five goals, followed by Escudero with three, while Thor and Braydon Sellers have each scored twice. Ryan Quintos, Håkon Edstrøm and Johnny Petruso have also found the net.
The Cardinals have scored 12 of their 16 goals in the second half this season, including all three goals in the comeback victory at Kentucky and all three goals against Wright State. Defensively, Louisville has allowed just seven goals through seven matches while limiting opponents to 20 shots on goal. Abraham has started all seven matches in goal, playing all 630 minutes with 13 saves and six victories.
