Petersen Set for National Team Debut at NORCECA U21 Pan American Cup

The rising junior will compete with Team USA in Columbus, Ohio from July 7-12.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Louisville volleyball outside hitter Payton Petersen has been selected as one of 14 student-athletes who will represent Team USA at the 2026 NORCECA Women's U21 Pan American Cup.
The tournament, featuring eight of the top junior national teams from across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, will take place from July 7-12 at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Petersen, a rising junior from Dike, Iowa, will make her national team debut on the heels of a breakout sophomore campaign for the Cardinals. She started all 33 matches in 2025 and finished second on the team in both total points (436.5) and kills (393). Additionally, Petersen was named to the All-ACC Second Team at the conclusion of the season while also earning Honorable Mention distinction on the AVCA All-South Region Team.
Petersen and the U.S. national team will open pool play at the Pan American Cup on July 7 against Venezuela with matches against Mexico and Canada to follow over the next two days.
Following the three days of pool play from July 7-9, the quarterfinals will take place on July 10, with the semifinals and placement matches scheduled for July 11, and the championship match slated for July 12. All matches will be streamed on the USA Volleyball YouTube channel.
