Addison Makun Recognized as ACC Defensive Player of the Week

The sophomore averaged 2.33 blocks per set in sweeps over Syracuse and Boston College.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Louisville middle blocker Addison Makun has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The sophomore averaged 2.33 blocks per set in road sweeps over Syracuse and Boston College to open ACC play on her way to earning the first ACC weekly award of her young career.
Makun began the weekend with seven blocks at Syracuse on Sept. 25, while also putting down five kills on .625 hitting and setting a career high with 8.5 points. She matched her blocking total two days later against Boston College on Sept. 27, tallying seven blocks and four kills on .571 hitting.
Makun has now recorded at least seven blocks in three consecutive matches, most notably setting a career best of eight against Kentucky on Sept. 20.
The Cardinals are set to return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 30 for a match against Notre Dame at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. The match will mark the first time the Cards have played in Louisville since Sept. 9 and will end a streak of seven consecutive matches away from home. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, with the match streamed on ACCNX.
