Three Cards Earn First-Team All-ACC Honors, Two Named to Third-Team All-ACC

Despines, Mack and Pickens highlight First Team, Lookadoo and Zabala earn Third Team
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 24 University of Louisville softball team placed five student-athletes on the All-ACC teams, highlighted by three First Team selections in Bri Despines, Chelsea Mack, and Madison Pickens, along with Third Team honors for Camryn Lookadoo and Alyssa Zabala.
This marks the first All-ACC Honors for Despines, Mack, Pickens, and Lookadoo. Zabala was named to the Third Team All-ACC and All-Freshman Team in 2023.
Despines has been one of the most complete hitters in the conference, batting .404 with 63 hits and 67 RBIs, which ranks fourth in the ACC. She also ranks fourth in the league with a .543 on-base percentage and owns a .731 slugging percentage. The senior catcher has recorded 18 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI performances, including six games with four or more RBIs. Defensively, she has thrown out 10 runners stealing. Despines carries a 29-game reached-base streak and has reached base in 53 of 54 games this season.
Mack, a senior outfielder, continues to pace the Cardinals at the top of the lineup, ranking second in the ACC and fourth nationally with 83 hits while batting .456. She has reached base in 51 games and carries a .517 on-base percentage, recording at least one hit in 45 of 54 contests. Mack leads the team with 27 multi-hit performances, including nine three-hit games and one four-hit outing. On the basepaths, she ranks second nationally with 42 stolen bases which is a single-season program best.
Pickens has emerged as one of the premier run producers in the ACC, totaling 69 RBIs - third in the league and the highest single-season mark in program history. The sophomore leads the team in batting average (.468), home runs (9), and slugging percentage (.775), while ranking fourth in the ACC and 11th nationally in batting average. She enters the week on a 15-game hitting streak and has compiled 19 multi-RBI games and 24 multi-hit performances. Pickens posts a league-best .494 average in ACC play.
Lookadoo, a junior, has provided consistency throughout the lineup, batting .377 with 55 hits and 55 RBIs. She leads the ACC and ranks sixth nationally with 20 doubles, adding a .500 on-base percentage and a .658 slugging percentage. She has registered 13 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI performances, highlighted by a career-high seven RBIs at Notre Dame and a three-hit effort in a comeback win over Clemson.
Zabala has anchored the pitching staff with 38 appearances, tied for the most in the ACC, and 122.1 innings pitched, ranking sixth in the conference. The right-hander owns a 14-4 record with four saves, second-most in the ACC, and leads the team with 95 strikeouts, surpassing her total from last season. She has pitched two complete games against ACC opponents this season, including a 3-1 win over Georgia Tech and a 5-1 victory at NC State.
The 2026 Allstate ACC Softball Championship begins today, Wednesday, May 6. No. 5 seed Louisville will play in the second game of the day, facing No. 12 seed NC State at 1:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
