March 24, 2026 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team took a 10-5 loss at Western Kentucky on Tuesday night.
Louisville (16-9) has lost two straight and three of its last four.
Western Kentucky (14-11) got out of the gate fast on Tuesday, sending 10 men to the plate in the first with four coming home.
The Cardinals were kept off the scoreboard for the first three frames before taking advantage of a couple free passes in the fourth.
Tague Davis drew a leadoff walk to start the fourth and Bayram Hot was then hit by a pitch. After a wild pitch advanced both runners up a station, Griffin Crain drove Davis in with a sacrifice fly. Jimmy Nugent then cashed in Hot with a groundball on the infield.
The Hilltoppers put a run on the board in their half of the fourth, but the Cards tied the game up with three in the fifth.
Ben Slanker doubled home Lucas Moore and Davis went the other way for a game-tying two-run homer. The long ball was the 14th of the season for Davis, adding to his ACC-leading total.
Western Kentucky would grab the lead back with an unearned run in the sixth and pushed four more across in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Jack Brown (2-1) was saddled with the loss after giving up an unearned run in 1.2 innings of relief work.
Louisville returns to ACC action this weekend with Pitt traveling to The Ville. The series gets underway on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
