Kaia Tupu-South Named ACC Women’s Co-Field Athlete of the Week

The redshirt senior posted an NCAA-leading mark of 17.50m (57-7) in the shot put at the USF Alumni Invitational.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Louisville women's track & field redshirt senior Kaia Tupu-South has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the ACC on Tuesday.
In her first outdoor meet in a Louisville uniform, Tupu-South posted a winning shot put mark of 17.50m (57-5) at the USF Alumni Invitational that currently leads the NCAA and moves her up to third in the program record books.
The Washington transfer also recorded an ACC-leading mark of 52.92m (173-7) in the discus throw that ranks her just outside the top 10 nationally to earn the first ACC weekly honor of her career.
Tupu-South and the rest of the Cardinals will return to action this weekend when they split between three meets: the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. on Mar. 26-28, the UCF Knights Invite in Orlando, Fla. on Mar. 27-28, and the Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville, Ky. on Mar. 28.
