Cards will play Eastern Kentucky in a Wednesday doubleheader
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team begins its 2026 spring season Wednesday, January 14 with a doubleheader against regional rival Eastern Kentucky. The first match is set to begin at 12 p.m. ET with the second subsequently at 5 p.m. ET.
This is the second year in a row the Cards will play the Colonels in a doubleheader to open up their season.
Last year, Louisville swept EKU in the doubleheader, claiming match one by a score of 6-1 and match two by a score of 4-0.
The 2026 spring roster for the Cards features a flurry of new faces with four transfers in Walid Ahouda, Louis Chusseau, Pedro Cressoni and Matei Onofrei. da Silva also signed true freshman Jerald Carroll to join the team earlier this month. Carroll joins the Cards from Orlando, Fla. and is currently the youngest men's tennis player in Division I.
In addition to the five new players, Louisville is returning three players in Hamza El Amine, Russell Lokko and André Steinbach.
The duo of Onofrei and Steinbach had a successful fall slate where they went 7-2, were named ITA South Sectional Co-Champions and made an appearance in the NCAA Doubles Championship tournament.
ITA's most recent poll placed Onofrei and Steinbach at No. 21, the highest ranking for a UofL doubles pair since the 2024 spring season. Ahouda and El Amine also landed in the doubles poll at No. 59 and are both ranked as singles players at No. 68 and No. 122, respectively.
