Elsingi Kipruto Named ACC Men’s Freshman of the Week

The freshman placed fourth overall at the Southern Showcase in his collegiate debut with an 8K time of 23:25.5.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Louisville men's cross country freshman Elsingi Kipruto has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
In his collegiate debut at the Southern Showcase on September 12, Kipruto placed fourth overall with an impressive 8K time of 23:25.5, leading the Louisville men to a fifth-place finish in the team standings.
With the honor, the native of Mosoriot, Kenya, becomes the fifth Cardinal in the past five seasons to be named ACC Men's Freshman of the Week, joining Ian Kibiwot (Sep. 7, 2021), Jack Moore (Sep. 20, 2022), Innocent Ntwali (Oct. 3, 2023), and Geoffrey Kirwa (Sep. 17, 2024) as recent recipients of the award.
Kipruto and the rest of the Cardinals will return to action in less than three weeks when the teams split between the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill. on October 3 and the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. on October 4.
