
Meet the 2025 Newcomers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The University of Louisville field hockey team will take the field for its first unofficial competition Friday when the Cardinals play host to Bellarmine in a scrimmage starting at 3 p.m. at Trager Stadium.

With a brand new season on deck for the Cardinals, six newcomers join a squad of 17 returners who developed through a challenging schedule last season and honed their skills in the spring and summer. On Friday, Tatum Bohnert, Katie Hume, Addison Jay, Jaelen Perez and Annabel Sep will officially don a Louisville uniform and take the field at Trager Stadium this fall.

Tatum Bohnert
Class: Freshman
Position: Midfield/Forward
Hometown: Louisville, Ky.
High School: Sacred Heart
Club: IFHCK
Tatum Bohnert chose to stay in her hometown and play for the Cardinals after graduating from Sacred Heart Academy. The midfielder/forward also played for IFHCK club and was a dual sport athlete, also lettering in lacrosse in high school.
High School/Club Highlights:
"I chose UofL because I wanted to play for a team that I knew would push me to my furthest abilities. I want to compete for a national championship and I knew UofL would be the team to get me there."

Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Enola, PA.
High School: Cumberland Valley
Club: WC Eagles

Jaelen Perez
Class: Freshman
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Broadlands, VA.
High School: Independence
Club: Metro FHC
Jaelen Perez comes to Louisville from Broadlands, Va., where she played for Independence High School. She had posted 10 goals and 32 assists her junior year and 19 goals and 19 assists in her senior campaign and nas named a MAX Field Hockey High School All-American. The back/midfielder was selected to the USA Field Hockey U18 team in 2024.Â

"From the moment I walked on the campus for the first time, I felt at home. I had been following the field hockey program years before I committed and I was truly intrigued the whole time. The broad choice of majors is also very nice to see since I am going in undecided. I am looking forward to getting coaches by such high-level coaches and play with other amazing girls who can only help improve my game, and school life."

Hometown: Northland, New Zealand
High School: St. Paul's Collegiate School
Club: Varsity Women's Premier

Gracie Potter comes to Louisville from Northland, New Zealand where she played for St. Paul's Collegiate School. She was the top goal scorer in 2024 for St. Paul's Collegiate School. The dual sport athlete also competed in cricket.

Addison Jay joins the Cardinals as a sophomore transfer from Boston University where she played in 15 games and dished out two assists as a freshman for the Terriers. The defender from Burlington, Mass., also completed in the USA Field Hockey 2025 Nexus Championship this summer.
At Boston University (2024): Played in 15 games in the backfield and dished out two assists.

"I chose UofL because of the high athletic level. More importantly, I chose it because of the people. Everyone was so welcoming and the dynamic of the field hockey team is unmatched by any other program! I was also born and raised in Boston so I can't wait to experience the southern culture!"

Annabel Sep
Class: Junior

Hometown: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
High School: University of Amsterdam

Annabel Sep comes to Louisville from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and will be listed as a junior after attending the University of Amsterdam. The defender brings an impressive playing resume, gaining experience among elite Dutch league players.
 Athletic Highlights:
"I chose UofL because when I visited, I saw that it is a very competitive environment where I can grow as a player and a person. I saw how much fun the girls were having as a group and it made me feel like home. Also, there is one person in particular why I choose to play for UofL. I want that person to see me play with the ten letters across my chest."

Annabel Sep comes to Louisville from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and will be listed as a junior after attending the University of Amsterdam. The defender brings an impressive playing resume, gaining experience among elite Dutch league players.

- Played for Laren Women's 1 in one of the strongest Dutch leagues
- Played for Westerpark Women's 1 for one year in the first class
- Started playing field hockey at HV de Terriers where she competed in the youth first teams at Super B and Super A level and in the promotion class for four years.
