Louisville Places Five on CSC Academic All-District Team

Bri Despines, Maddi Grant, Char Lorenz, Easton Lotus, and Alyssa Zabala earned CSC Academic All-District Honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team placed five student-athletes on the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced today. Bri Despines, Maddi Grant, Char Lorenz, Easton Lotus, and Alyssa Zabala were among those honored.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Bri Despines earns her first CSC All-District Honors after transferring from Kent State to play for the Cards this season. The 2024 All-MAC Second Team selection had a stellar first season with Louisville, tallying 37 runs, 47 hits, and 37 RBI while hitting a .318 clip.
In her final year with the Cards, Maddi Grant excelled at first base, leading the team in double plays turned with nine. The biology major had 25 hits and 13 RBI on the year in 49 games.
The All-ACC Second Team selection, Char Lorenz capped off a great first year as she led the team in batting average (.368), doubles (11), home runs (9) and RBI (53).
Easton Lotus earns her second CSC Academic All-District Honor this season. She was second on the team in batting average (.357) and first on the team in runs (38), hits (65) and triples (5).
Alyssa Zabala earned her second straight CSC All-District Honors after leading the Cards in the circle this season with 38 appearances. She posted a 4.00 ERA with 10 wins in the circle in 140.0 innings pitched.
