The sophomore totaled 5,625 points to set a new Louisville record while moving up to 10th in the NCAA.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville track & field sophomore Lucy Fellows set a new program record in the women's heptathlon on Sunday as the Cardinals closed out the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational.
Over the course of the weekend, Fellows accrued a personal-best total of 5,625 points to finish as the runner-up while breaking the previous program record of 5,556 points that was set in 2017 by Holly Hankenson.
The score also moves the sophomore up to 10th in the NCAA and second in the ACC thus far this season, putting her in prime position to qualify for June's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In addition to her personal-best point total, Fellows also earned personal records in five of the heptathlon's seven events after recording marks of 14.35 in the 100m hurdles, 1.68m (5-6) in the high jump, 12.62m (41-5) in the shot put, 24.51 in the 200m, and 41.59m (136-5) in the javelin throw.
Maya Follmer also contested four of the seven heptathlon events over the last two days, setting three personal records of her own in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.36, the high jump with a clearance of 1.59m (5-2.5) in the high jump, and a mark of 5.67m (18-7.25) in the long jump.
