March 20, 2025 | Track & Field
The regional award marks the second for the senior after winning the same award at the conclusion of the 2024 outdoor season.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of Louisville women's track & field senior Jayden Ulrich has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
After winning the same award at the conclusion of the 2024 outdoor season, the senior becomes the first athlete in program history to win the honor during an indoor campaign.
Ulrich also now stands as only the second athlete in Louisville history to win a USTFCCCA indoor regional award, joining Tone Belt, who was named the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2007.
The full list of the award winners from the 2024-25 indoor season can be found here.
Coming off an appearance in the discus at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ulrich posted a dominant indoor season in the women's shot put, capping the year by earning First Team All-American honors in the event for the second year in a row, placing sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships after recording a mark of 18.07m (59-3.5).
The native of East Alton, Ill. also earned her second consecutive conference title in the shot put, capturing the top spot on the podium at the ACC Indoor Championships with a toss of 17.88m (58-8).
At the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in January, Ulrich set a new personal-best and program-record mark of 18.40m (60-4.5) that also ranks as the fifth-best mark in the NCAA and 20th-best mark in the world throughout the 2024-25 indoor season.
Ulrich will begin her outdoor season this weekend at the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, Fla., as the senior prepares to take part in the women's discus throw on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. ET.
