The Cardinals are a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Championship
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Championship and will host Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.Â
Louisville earned a No. 6 seed after finishing the season with a 13-4-2 overall record and were 6-2-2 in ACC play to finish tied for fifth in the league. The Cardinals will be making their seventh NCAA Championship appearance.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes has been at the helm for all seven NCAA berths in program history and the Cardinals rewrote the record book so far in the 2025 season. Louisville has already broken program records for most goals (52), assists (58) and points (160) in a single season. The 13 wins are the most they have earned in the regular season in program history and are one away from tying the program record for most in a single year.
The Cardinals had three players named to the All-ACC teams following the regular season in Amelia Swinarski, Karsyn Cherry and Emersen Jennings. Swinarski and Cherry were named to the second team while Jennings was tabbed for the third team. Swinarski leads the Cards this season with nine goals, 10 assists and 28 points. Cherry has started in 17 games at center back and tallied three goals and three assists. Jennings has five goals, four assists and 14 points on the season, including four game-winning goals.Â
The Cardinals have also been stout defensively on top of the strong offensive numbers. Louisville has allowed just 12 goals in 19 games this season and tallied 12 shutouts on the year. The Cardinals have a .632 shutout percentage that leads the ACC and ranks seventh nationally. Senior goalkeeper Erynn Floyd has started every game for the Cards this season and has recorded 10 solo shutouts, which leads the ACC and is tied for 10th nationally.
Kentucky was 12-4-4 this season and 5-2-3 in SEC play. This is the first meeting between the two teams since the 2018 season.
Tickets are on-sale now at GoCards.com/NCAASoccer. Tickets are $10 and all seats are general admission. Students can get free admission to Saturday's First Round NCAA game. They need to present their valid student I.D. at the box office to claim their ticket.
