
Cardinals Earn Hard Fought Win Over UT Chattanooga 5-2

Despite being down two players in the match, Louisville earns first road win
MURFREESBORO, TENN. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team was once again shorthand but earned a hard-fought win against UT Chattanooga 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex. UofL is now 2-1 on the young season.
The Cardinals were still down two players due to illness but prevailed in doubles to secure the doubles point early for the Cards. Both courts came down to a tiebreaker as the duos of Elena Noguero and Alice Otis on Court 1 and Allie Gretkowski and Germany Davis on Court 2, fought to a 7-6 (7-5) win, respectively, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
UT Chattanooga was awarded a point due to a forfeit in singles.
UofL continued their hot start going into singles action as Otis earned the win on Court 1 6-2, 6-4 to give Louisville a 2-1 lead.
On Court 2, Noguero cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 finish to extend the Cardinals' lead to 3-1 midway through the match.
Germany Davis dominated on Court 4, securing a 6-2, 6-2 win to put the Cards up 4-1. Freshman Elisabeth Iila battled on Court 5, gutting her way to a 6-1, 7-5 victory on Court 5.
Allie Gretkowski came up short in a three-set thriller, falling 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) on Court 3.
Louisville will return home to face Dayton on Friday, January 31st at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center with first serve slated for 4 p.m. ET.
