Ulrich Shines in Season Debut at Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational

In her first competition since the 2024 Paris Olympics, the senior set a new indoor personal-best mark of 18.00m (59-0.75) in the women’s shot put.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams closed out competition at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational on Saturday, led by Jayden Ulrich's stellar season debut in the women's shot put.
In her first competition since representing Team USA in the women's discus throw at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ulrich began her senior season with an indoor personal-best shot put mark of 18.00m (59-0.75) to finish as the runner-up in the event and move her closer to the indoor program record of 18.14m (59-6.25).
Rachel Darden also set an indoor-best of her own in the women's triple jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 12.37m (40-7) to move her to sixth in program history, and Miller Jones recorded a leap of 15.36m (50-4.75) to place fourth in the men's iteration of the event and propel him to seventh in school history.
The women's 4x400m relay team of McKenzie Bell, Ruby Nwosu, Sophia Day, and Kiyah Yeast closed out the day with a fourth-place finish of their own, combining for a time of 3:40.61 to rank them third in program history.
The Cards will return to action next weekend with the Bellarmine Open, which is set to take place from Jan.17-18 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on the West End of Louisville.
