Cards Total 11 Podium Finishes at Bellarmine Open

Maya Follmer, Demaria King, Josh Moore and Anna Panenko combined for five event wins to lead the way for the Cardinals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams combined for 11 podium finishes and five event wins to close competition at the Bellarmine Open on Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Maya Follmer took home event victories in both the women's 60m hurdles and women's high jump to continue her stellar start to her sophomore campaign, clocking a personal-best time of 8.78 in the hurdles and clearing a bar of 1.61m (5-3.25) to tie her personal record in the event.
In the women's weight throw, Demaria King set a new personal-best for the second consecutive meet, recording a mark of 16.49m (54-1.25) for the first event win of her collegiate career. The Cardinals took the top two spots in the event as Carys Gossett claimed the runner-up spot with a final toss of 16.24m (53-3.5).
Josh Moore earned his first event win in a Louisville uniform, taking the spot in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.98m (6-6).
The Cards swept the podium in the women's triple jump, led by Anna Panenko's mark of 12.31m (40-4.75) to get the win and move into a tie for ninth in program history. Sophia Day matched Panenko's mark of 12.31m (40-4.75) to finish second and join Panenko in the record books, and Autumn Bell set a new personal-best with a leap of 12.16m (39-10.75).
KJ Byrd, the 2024 USATF U20 national champion in the decathlon, made his collegiate debut with a runner-up finish in the men's pole vault, posting an impressive final clearance of 5.10m (16-8.75) to leap into a tie for fifth in program history.
In the women's pole vault, Lydia Stuart earned a second-place finish of her own with a personal-best bar of 4.06m (13-3.75), while Iliana Triantafyllou placed fourth with a mark of 3.76m (12-4).
The Cards closed out the day with a pair of strong performances in the sand pit as Jamaur Williamson placed third in the men's triple jump with a season-best mark of 14.29m (46-10.75) and Grigoris Nikolaou claimed fourth in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.05m (23-1.75).
Next weekend, the Cardinals will hit the road for the first time in 2025, heading up to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Crossroads of America Invitational that will take place on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
