DeBeer leads the offense and UofL outlblocks Tigers 12-1
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- Anna DeBeer had 11 kills, hit 407 with nine digs and two blocks to lead the No. 4-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 win over Missouri at the Northern Kentucky Invitational Saturday afternoon in Highland Heights, Ky.

The Cardinals move to 4-1 record with the sweep. UofL hit .443 as a team with 12 blocks, four aces and 42 digs. Reese Robins had nine kills, hitting .533 with four blocks. Cara Cresse had seven blocks with six kills and an ace. Elle Glock and Nayelis Cabello combined for 32 assists.

Missouri (3-2) hit .207 with four aces and 1 block. The Tigers suffered 12 service errors but added 42 digs. MU were led by Jordan Iliff's 11 kills and two aces with Regan Haith adding 10 kills.

The Cardinals will face host Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.

Set 1
In the first set, Louisville used .406 hitting with four blocks to power to a 25-20 win. The teams traded points through the first half of the seat. The Cardinals finally got some breathing room with a five point lead at 19-14 after an ace by Cara Cresse. The Cards got to set point on a kill by Cresse but Mizzou managed to score once more before a kill by Anna DeBeer gave the first set to the Cards 25-20.
Set 2
In the second set, the Cardinals found themselves down 15-9 but used .429 hitting to take their first lead at 22-21 on a kill by Charitie Luper. The Tigers could only manage .220 hitting and suffered four service errors, allowing the Cards to get back into the set. Â The Cards ended the set with a block by Hannah Sherman and Reese Robins for the 25-21 victory and take a 2-0 set lead into the break.
Set 3
In the third set, the two teams kept the score close but after tying at nine points, the Cardinals went on an 8-3 run to go up 17-12. The Tigers countered with a three point serving run to close the margin to 17-14 and spark a Louisville timeout. A kill by DeBeer, gave the Cardinals a 22-16 lead and Missouri called timeout to regroup. UofL came out of the break and got to set and match point on a kill by DeBeer. Missouri had two kills but a kill by Reese Robins gave the Cards the 25-18 win.
