Elena Scott Voted ACC Defensive Player of the Week for Third Time

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Â University of Louisville senior libero Elena Scott was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played September 23-29.Â
Scott was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Scott was named the first Defensive Player of the Week on the year on September 2, before earning Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors on September 16. Scott dug up 39 balls and tallied nine assists in the Cardinals' wins over Cal and No. 3 Stanford last week, moving her career digs total to 1,556. Scott has 204 digs on the season and is 15th in the nation in digs per set with 4.98.
Six teams are ranked inside the latest AVCA/TARFLEX Coaches Poll, headlined by No. 1 Pitt, No. 4 Louisville and No. 5 Stanford in the top five. The six teams are second most of any conference this week. Conference play continues this week with North Carolina traveling to in-state foe Duke on Wednesday, October 2, while the rest of the conference kicks off the weekend on Friday, October 4.
