No. 13 Cards Gear Up for No. 13 Boston College and No. 4 Ohio State

Louisville plays host to Boston College Friday at 11 a.m., travels to No. 4 Ohio State Sunday at 1 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. –The No. 13-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will kick off a stretch of five straight games against ranked opponents starting on Friday when No. 12 Boston College visits Trager Stadium for an 11 a.m. matchup. On Sunday, the Cards will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face No. 4 Ohio State at 1 p.m.

LOUISVILLE FIELD HOCKEY QUICK HITS
•The No. 13-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will return to Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend when the Cardinals play host to No. 12 Boston College Friday at 11 a.m. Following that, Louisville hit the road to continue its string of top-20 matchups when the Cards visit fourth-ranked Ohio State Sunday at 1 p.m.
• Louisville brings a 5-3 record and a 1-0 mark in ACC play into the weekend. The Cards are on a three-game wins streak after picking up a pair of wins over the weekend starting with a 2-0 home victory over Stanford in its conference opener and defeating Ball State 4-2 on Sunday.
• Rylie Wollerton leads the team with four goals and has added an assist for nine points. Izzy Bianco follows with three goals and two assists for eight points. A total of nine players have accounted for at least one of the Cardinals' 17 goals on the season with five players recording multiple goals.
• Emily Young and Brandelynn Heinbaugh have split goalkeeper duties thus far. Heinbaugh, a grad transfer from JMU has a 0.94 goals against average with wins against Penn and Stanford, while Young, a redshirt freshman, carries a 2.02 goals against average, earning the victories against American University, Cornell and Ball State.
• Izzy Bianco, Mia Duchars and Aimee Plumb were tabbed to the 2024 NFHCA Division I Watchlist.
• Aimee Plumb was named to the 2024 Preseason All-ACC team as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Cardinals were picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the preseason poll.
• The Cardinals' eight-game home slate features four ACC opponents including defending national champion North Carolina along with a non-conference showdown with NCAA runner-up Northwestern.

Series History: Louisville leads 8-5
Last Meeting: Oct. 31, 2023 - Riley Wollerton delivered two goals and added an assist to help Louisville win 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship in Charlottesville, Va.. The conference tournament matchup came just four days after the regular season meeting which saw Cards win 2-1 behind Mia Duchars' penalty corner goal in double overtime at Trager Stadium.
Scouting the Eagles: Boston College brings a 6-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in ACC play into the weekend. The Eagles are riding a three-game win streak, most recently defeating New Hampshire 5-3 following a 4-1 win over Wake Forest in their ACC opener.Â
• Peyton Hale and Yani Zhone stand among BC's scoring leaders with seven goals and three assists apiece.Â
• Charlotte Kramer carries a 1.38 goals against average.
• Kelly Doton is in her 10th season at the helm. Inducted into the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024, Doton has posted Boston College's best winning percentage during her time at the helm of the Eagles and has guided the program to a trip to the 2019 NCAA Final Four.

Last Meeting: Sept. 8, 2023 - Louisville won 2-1 at Trager Stadium - Aimee Plumb notched a pair of goals to give the Cards a 2-0 lead and Julie Rodijk scored for the Buckeyes.
Scouting the Buckeyes: Fourth-ranked Ohio State brings a perfect 8-0 record into Sunday's matchup at Buckeye Varsity Field. The Buckeyes opened Big Ten play with a 4-0 win over Michigan State on Friday and followed that with a 5-2 win against Brown on Sunday.
• Makenna Webster, the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, leads the team with eight goals and nine assist for 25 points.
• Abby Danson has spent the bulk of the time in the cage for the Buckeyes and carries a 0.61 goals against average with two shutouts and an .875 save percentage.
• Jarred Martin is in his eighth season at the helm.

UofL stands at No. 13 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll released on Sept. 10, dropping one from its previous spot.
• Louisville has now spent 121 consecutive weeks in the top 20 in the nation dating back to the 2013 season.
