Cardinals Set for a Pair of Preseason Scrimmages

Cards will play host to Bellarmine Friday at 4 p.m., travel to Indiana Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville field hockey team will take the field for a pair of preseason scrimmages this weekend starting with a home matchup against Bellarmine Friday at 4 p.m. at Trager Stadium. The Cards will then hit the road for Bloomington, Ind., to face Indiana University Sunday at 12 p.m.

Louisville vs. Bellarmine (Scrimmage)

Parking: Fans attending games held at the University of Louisville may utilize the Floyd Street Parking Garage located across from the Don Fightmaster Playground for a $5 fee.

Scouting the Knights: Bellarmine is entering its fifth season competing at the NCAA Division 1 Level. Last year the Knights tallied seven wins, including three in the Mid-American Conference, finishing fifth in league standings.
• Bellarmine will be returning Bente Moormann who finished as a second team All-MAC selection last season. Â
• Devanny Boisvert will enter her sixth season as the head coach in the fall of 2024 as the Knights' transition period into Division I ends, making them eligible to compete for the NCAA Championship.

Scouting the Hoosiers: Indiana finished the 2023 season with a 6-13 overall record, finishing 0-8 in Big-Ten Conference play.
• Indiana midfielder Inés Garcia Prado will be looking to build off a solid freshman campaign where she placed on the NFHCA West Region Second Team. Over the offseason, she played in the Euro Hockey U21 Championship for Spain's U21 National Team.
• Head Coach Kayla Bashore enters her sixth season as the head coach of Indiana Field Hockey. Bashore is a 2005 Indiana University graduate who was a two-time All-American and four-time All-Big Ten selection for the Hoosiers.
• The Cardinals will also see a familiar face on the sideline at Indiana as former graduate transfer, Sasha Elliott (2022) is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Hoosiers.

• Aimee Plumb was named to the 2024 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference team as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Cardinals were picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the preseason poll.
• In 2023, the UofL field hockey team posted a 15-7 overall record and made its fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, reaching the quarterfinals for the third time in the last five years. Louisville also went 3-3 in ACC play and advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament. The Cards finished the season at No. 10 in the NFHCA Coaches' poll after spending 10 weeks ranked among the nation's the top 10, reaching as high as No. 4.
• The Cardinals return 16 letterwinners from last year's squad including Plumb and fellow fifth-year senior All-America selection Mia Duchars. Louisville also welcomes nine newcomers with eight freshmen and one transfer.
• The Cardinals' eight-game home slate features four ACC opponents including defending national champion North Carolina along with a non-conference showdown with NCAA runner-up Northwestern.
• Justine Sowry is entering her 14th season at the helm. During her tenure, Sowry has guided the Cardinals to nine NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the quarterfinals in three of the last five years and reaching the semifinals in 2020.
