Sophomore Claire Carver-Ritter earns all-ACC second team honors
RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Louisville rowing team wrapped up the 2024 season on the final day of the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Saturday morning at Lake Wheeler.
Â
Syracuse captured its first ACC Rowing title after standing tied with Virginia and emerging with a tiebreaker win in the Varsity Eight Grand Final. The Cardinals finished eighth overall with sophomore Claire Carver-Ritter taking home all-ACC second team honors.
Â
The day started with Third Varsity Eight Petite Final as the Cardinals posted a time of 7:07.838, three seconds behind Boston College with Clemson leading the way.
Â
"Working with this young of a team was challenging, however very encouraging throughout the season to see how they engaged with the culture and our future goals," said junior Neala Marshall. "We are moving past the results and looking on to what needs to be done to prepare for next year."
Â
The Varsity Four crew turned in a time of 7:39.445 to place second behind Miami and five seconds ahead of Boston College in the second Petite Final of the day.
Â
"I am proud of the work we have done to get to this point, but it is clear that there is a lot of room to grow in the future and that I'm excited to see what we do moving forward," said junior Taylor Fausey.
Â
The Second Varsity Eight Grand Final saw Louisville clocking in at 6:41.380 to place sixth. In a tightly-contested varsity eight Petite Final, the Cards raced to a time of 6:35.638 for a third-place showing.
Â
"I was really proud to be part of the 2V this year, and being part of such a young group it really pushed me as a leader," said senior Gabrielle Zanoni. "The 2V had a lot of growth throughout the season and we really showed that this weekend. I am really proud to have had these girls as my teammates these past four years and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next."
