El Amine joins Cardinals for 2024-25 season from VCU
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL men's tennis and head coach Rodrigo da Silva announced Friday the signing of rising sophomore Hamza El Amine to the 2024-25 roster. El Amine heads to The Ville from VCU.
"I'm super excited to add a player like Hamza to the team," said da Silva. "He has tremendous potential and will add some more experience to our team."
El Amine recorded an 11-7 record in singles for VCU in 2023-24. He won 13 doubles matches playing with five different teammates throughout the season.
The 6-4 El Amine was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on six occasions in his debut campaign after being named to the A10 Preseason All-Conference Team.
The Casablanca, Morocco native helped the Rams win their seventh straight A10 Championship, returning to the NCAA Championship as a team and advancing to the second round after beating Princeton.
Prior to entering college, El Amine ranked as high as 134 in the ITF junior rankings. He won the Arabic Championship representing Morocco in 2016 and 2017. He also claimed the national Moroccan Championship for his respective age group in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. He won the U16 African Championship doubles bracket in 2019 and the U14 African Championship in 2018.
