Tigers win 6-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team was downed by Memphis on Friday afternoon by the score of 6-1.

The afternoon began with the Cardinals taking the doubles point. The pair of Ibifuro Clement and Berta Miret fell 6-2 on Court 3 to Alice Amendola and Miriam Grosmann of Memphis to give the Tigers the upper hand, but Louisville's Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina won 6-3 on Court 2 followed by Jamilah Snells and Lillian Mould winning 6-3 on Court 1 to clinch the doubles point for the Cards.

It was all Memphis in singles play, as Camila Soares prevailed over Mould 6-2, 6-1 on Court 2 to get the Tigers on the board. Monique Woof next defeated Peresypkina 6-4, 6-2 on Court 3, followed by a Leonie Moeller 6-1, 6-4 win over Snells on Court 1. Gretkowski then fell on Court 5 6-3, 7-5 to Alice Amendola, and Germany Davis fell 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) to Emily Meyer on Court 4. Finally, Micah Pierce defeated Miret 6-4, 6-2 on Court 6 to close out the 6-1 win for the Tigers.

The Cardinals now turn their attention to the first of a four-match homestand against Notre Dame on Sunday, March 10. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
