Cards Set to Face Memphis and Notre Dame This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team is set to travel to the University of Memphis on Friday and then head home to host the University of Notre Dame on Sunday. The Cardinals face off against the Tigers at 3 p.m. in the Leftwich Tennis Center, and the Fighting Irish at noon in the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.Â

Louisville is going into Friday hoping to snap a five-match losing streak. Over the weekend the Cards fell 7-0 to No. 35 Wake Forest (8-5) and 5-2 to No. 6 NC State (12-3). The two points from Sunday's match against the Wolfpack were wins on singles courts by Germany Davis and Berta Miret. The highlight of the match for the Cards was Davis' comeback win as she defeated No.44 Sophie Abrams 1-6, 7-5,10-2 on court four.Â

No. 58 Memphis (9-6) is dominant at home, owning a 7-1 record when playing at the Leftwich Tennis Center. The Tigers lost to two ranked opponents over the weekend, falling 1-4 to No. 53 Northwestern on Friday and dropping 2-5 to No. 49 Maryland on Sunday. The lone point of the match against Northwestern was Alice Amendola's 7-5, 6-2 win on court five. The match against Maryland was highlighted by two wins on singles courts by Monique Woog and Amendola.Â

No.43 Notre Dame(9-5) lost both of their matches over the weekend, falling to No.6 NC State 2-5 on Friday and No. 35 Wake Forest 3-4 on Sunday. The Fighting Irish are led by the duo of Julia Andreach and Carrie Beckman who are ranked No. 40 by ITA with a 7-5 record. Andreach led the weekend earning two wins on singles courts over No. 27 Anna Zyryanova of NC State and Brooke Killingsworth of Wake Forest.Â
