March 08, 2024 | Track & Field
Allen and Stephens are set to compete in the men’s high jump tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. with Ulrich slated for the women’s shot put at 5:00 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field program will be represented by three student-athletes at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, Mass. at the TRACK at New Balance.
Trey Allen, Brion Stephens and Jayden Ulrich punched their tickets to the national championship meet by earning qualifying marks within the top-16 nationally in their respective events throughout the season.
All three will compete on Saturday afternoon with Allen and Stephen both competing in the men's high jump at 1:00 p.m., while Ulrich is set to contest the women's shot put at 5:45 p.m. Competition will be streamed live on ESPN+ beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Allen returns to the indoor national meet for the third straight season in the high jump after earning First Team All-American distinction with a third-place finish in 2023 and a seventh-place showing in 2022. The redshirt senior enters the weekend with the third-best mark in the nation with a season-best clearance of 2.24m (7-4.25) at the KTCCCA College Opener on Dec. 2.
Stephens will also be making a return trip to the national meet in the high jump for the second consecutive season after being named Second Team All-American as a freshman in 2023. The two-time indoor ACC runner-up in the event comes into the competition with a personal-best mark of 2.22m (7-3.25) set at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 3 that seeds him in a tie for fifth entering the meet.
Ulrich currently holds the eighth-best shot put mark in the nation entering the competition with a personal-best heave of 17.70m (58-1) at the Eagle Elite Invitational on Feb. 10, having also captured the ACC title in the event two weeks ago at the ACC Indoor Championships. The junior returns to the national meet after also earning a berth to the NCAA Indoor Championships last season while competing for Indiana on her way to Second Team All-American honors.
