March 09, 2024 | Track & Field
The junior finished sixth nationally in the women’s shot put with a mark of 17.62m (57-9.75).
BOSTON, Mass. – Jayden Ulrich earned First Team All-American honors in the women's shot put as the University of Louisville track & field teams wrapped up the 2023-24 indoor season at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The junior from East Alton, Ill. capped her first indoor season with the Cardinals with a sixth-place finish in the event, recording a mark of 17.62m (57-9.75) on her first attempt of the competition to claim First Team All-American distinction for the first time in her career.
With Ulrich earning three points through her performance in the shot put, the Louisville women's program has now scored points at the national indoor meet for eight straight seasons (excluding the 2020 season, where the championship event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The Cardinals were also represented in the men's high jump as Brion Stephens and Trey Allen were both named Second Team All-Americans after the pair both finished with a final clearance of 2.15m (7-0.5).
Stephens tied for 11th in his second appearance at the national meet, improving off his 16th-place finish in the event in 2023, while Allen placed 14th to garner indoor All-American laurels for the third time in his career.
The Cardinals will now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which is slated to begin on Mar. 27 with a four-way split between the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational, Stanford Invitational, and Mike Fanelli Track Classic.
