The University of Louisville rowing team will return to action this weekend when the Cardinals head to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. for the Sunshine State Invite.
Â
Hosted by UCF and Jacksonville, the regatta field features 16 teams: Boston College, Drexel, Iowa (RV), Jacksonville, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, North Carolina, Miami (RV), Michigan State, Old Dominion, Stetson, Tulsa, UCF, UMass, West Virginia.
Â
The Cardinals will send four boats, the Varsity 8, the Second Varsity 8, the Varsity 4 and the Second Varsity 4 to compete. Racing will start at 3:20 p.m. on March 29 and will end at 10:50 a.m. on March 30. The live stream will air on RHStv which is available on Roku, Amazon Fire, Samsung, LG, mobile devices and web.

UofL Head Coach Derek Copeland on the Sunshine State Invite
"We are headed back to the world class venue in Sarasota. The competition has been great there the last few years and it looks even deeper this year. The training here on the Ohio has been good since our return from spring training and the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite. This shows that the team is continuing to level up and grind through what is typically a high-strain portion of our training.
Â
Like everyone, we have faced a few uncontrollable speed bumps the last couple of weeks. They have been working hard to respond to those circumstances appropriately and it shows in their consistency. We will have to level up our preparation and recovery with the addition of that Florida sun and heat. Our support staff, including Dietitian, Caroline Blincoe, Sports Performance Coach Michael Naperalsky, and Athletic Trainer Meg Lambert have been preparing the group for that extra heat and all that comes with it."
