Gabby Holloway registers two homers and five RBIs, Riley Frizell adds a two-run homer and Paige Geraghty connects on a three-run triple

The Cardinals (18-9) matched a season-high for runs with 12 and hits with 13 – including three home runs, a triple and a double. Holloway led the charge with two homers and five RBIs and Riley Frizell went 3-for-3 with a double and a homer – finishing the game a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Paige Geraghty connected on a three-run triple while Bailee Richardson and Chelsea Mack collected two hits apiece.

Alyssa Zabala (11-3) picked up the win, surrendering one earned run on three hits and delivering a strikeout in four innings of work.

Louisville struck early with Holloway's two-run homer in the second inning. Richardson led off with a single to bring up the designated player who crushed a shot over the left field fence for her first home run of the season.

The Cards erupted for 10 more runs in the third inning, using seven hits, including a three-run shot by Holloway, a two-run homer by Frizell and a three-run triple by Geraghty. Frizell got the offense going with a leadoff double and was lifted for pinch-runner Pickle Winkler who crossed the plate on Vanessa Miller's RBI hit. Richardson walked to put two on for Holloway who, this time sent a shot over the right field fence to make the score 6-0. Ally Alexander earned a walk, Kiley Goff was hit by a pitch and Chelsea Mack reached on a bunt single to set the table for Geraghty who punched a triple to center field. She would go on to score on a wild pitch. After a walk to Daisy Hess, Frizell came back to the plate and smashed her team-best sixth homer of the season to the Floyd Street roundabout behind left field, extending the lead to 12-0. Â

Michigan (14-11) got on the scoreboard behind Jenissa Conway's solo home run in the fourth inning. The Wolverines used an error, a walk and a three-run homer by Conway to tack on three more runs in the fifth, bringing the final score to 12-4.

Erin Hoehn (6-3) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and striking out one in 2.1 innings of work. Conway paced the Wolverines offensively with two home runs and drove in all four of their runs.

Louisville will wrap up the tournament on Sunday when the Cards take on Illinois at 5 p.m. in an ACC Network televised game. The contest features a rematch of Friday's game that saw the Fighting Illini prevail 6-0. Â

LOUISVILLE TEAM NOTES:
- This marks Louisville's second win over Michigan this season after previously defeating the Wolverines 2-0 in FAU's Joan Joyce Classic on Feb. 17. Michigan owns the overall series lead 21-6.
- Saturday's victory is Louisville's fifth via the eight-run rule this season.
- The win also marked a season high in home runs (3) and total bases (25)
- Gabby Holloway tripled her career home run total, after notching her first career round-tripper in 2021, her freshman season.
- Riley Frizell is in the midst of a career-best season with a team-best six home runs and 28 RBIs. She also leads the team with six multi-RBI games.
- Paige Geraghty leads the team with eight multi-hit games
