February 08, 2024 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams are set to begin their first true road trip of the season while splitting between a pair of meets in Boston, Mass.
The Cardinals will split between Boston College's Eagle Elite Invitational and Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational, both of which will take place from Feb. 9-10.
A contingent of 50 student athletes will compete at the Eagle Elite Invitational, which will take place at the TRACK at New Balance, the site of the 2024 ACC and NCAA Indoor Championships.
The meet will field ten teams who are currently ranked within the top-25 nationally, five apiece on the men's and women's sides.
Ranked men's squads include No. 4 Texas, No. 9 USC, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 22 Louisville, and No. 24 North Carolina. The women's field will be led by No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Texas, No. 6 USC, No. 13 Oklahoma State, and No. 23 Harvard.
Action will open on Friday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. with the women's 5000m, while field events will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, six student athletes will split off to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational to compete in the men's and women's 5000m events at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center in one of the largest indoor meets in the country.
The women's 5000m will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning, with the men's 5000m starting at the same time on Saturday.
Last weekend, the Cardinals split between three meets: the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic, the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, and the Meyo Invitational.
Jayden Ulrich was named ACC Female Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after widening her ACC-leading shot put mark at the Meyo Invitational, while Brion Stephens leapt up to a tie for third nationally in the men's high jump with a victory at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
